Vanessa MacEwen
BA, MACP, CCC, LCT-C
Licensed Counselling Therapist – Candidate
Vanessa is a counselling therapist who is passionate about helping people move through life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional connection. She works with individuals (ages 10 and up) and couples, offering a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, welcome, comfortable, and safe.
Vanessa draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients understand their emotions, develop practical tools, and build stronger relationships. Her approach is grounded in the belief that every person has intrinsic worth—and that meaningful change happens when we are supported in showing up as our full selves.
Vanessa has a special interest in couples therapy and draws on training in the Gottman Method to help partners improve communication, rebuild emotional connection, and navigate major life transitions, such as becoming parents. She also supports adolescents and parents in setting healthy boundaries, responding instead of reacting, and strengthening family dynamics.
Known for her direct, thoughtful, and often humorous approach, Vanessa is committed to creating an inclusive space for everyone. She offers both daytime and evening appointments to support a variety of schedules.
Outside of her practice, Vanessa enjoys reading, spending time with her dog, and making the most of sunny beach days. She also loves Halloween—and does her best not to wish away the warm weather too early in anticipation of spooky season.
